WiMap IS

WiMap® IS (ImageSegmentation) segments images into homogeneous regions. WiMap IS handles grayscale, color and multispectral images and uses the full bit depth of the original images. Statistics like number of pixels, average, median, standard deviation and compactness are saved per region. Boundaries are chain coded and (optionally) vectorized.

The segmentation does not require any user defined parameter settings, but you may define a minimum number of pixels per region and you may adjust a scale parameter to over- or undersegment the image relative an information theoretic optimum. For the advanced user, there are more parameters, but usually it is better to let WiMap® IS set the parameters automatically based on the provided image.
